A Small Handheld Unit To Detect Clés, Téléphone Portable And Even Telephone Portable

Sunday 9 August 2009 @ 12:43 am

Locate your enfant with Loc8tor in Alert Mode.
The Alert mode permits an indiscernible border line to be locate around the Loc8tor – near, medium or far, and warns the moment your youngster goes out of your preset security zone with an audio alarm, on screen display and a vibration Alert. Easy Test ability for required batteries for both the handheld unit and mini homing labels.
Audio and visual directional technology guides you to within 2.5cm / 1” of lost child. Alert mode can warn if tagged infant go outside a user set security area that you can set. Range can be independently labeled for each tag. Miniaturised Labels can be quickly and easily attached to almost anything with the Key ring loop or adhesive strips which are included in the pack. Homing Tags gives off audio beep and flashing LED to help locate. Homing labels can not be switched off by infant. Panic Mark enables a infant to ignite a distress alarm.

Experiment Loc8tor out on your cat
Does your cat constantly escape out the window to drift around the rooftops? Well, attach a mini etiquette to its collar –you can attach it on or suspend it from a key ring loop- and set up the device to find a certain radius either in meters or in feet. The gadget will give off sound and visual indicationa when the animal has gone outside the defined zone. Walk in the track of the strongest signal shown on the handheld and you will detect your cat.

Loc8tor device is the size of a credit card; you can carry it with you all the time and use it in the office, at home or outdoors. Use it to detect your clé, locate the TV’s remote control, make sure no one’s touching your motorcycle, or that the coat you left at the checkroom will still be there when you go back for it.

***** ***** *****

The Loc8tor is a small handheld unit that can be used to trace properties that have a special Loc8tor tag attached to them – great for tracking down lost keys, téléphone portable, gadgets, pets, wallet, etc.

Locating a label is pretty easy too – To retrieve a mark, you press the grey button – you then get a list of all of your tags (up to 24 are supported). Pick the item you want to locate from the list, and select it. A couple of things happen… assuming the tag is essentially in range (122 without any obstruction), the etiquette starts to emit an intermittent beep and flashes it’s little light – if the label’s in earshot, you can retrieve it without using the handset display.
At this point, the handheld unit starts its search, and on the display shows how far away the etiquette is – near, medium, far. You then spin round in a slow circle, watching the display – the graphic changes to reflect a stronger signal when you’re facing in the right direction. You then play a little “getting warmer, “getting colder” until you know you’re in the right way, then start moving towards the object. To assist you, there ‘s an onscreen number to embody signal strength. As you’re searching, the handset will be beeping – and as the beeps get louder together the closer you get to the mark – turning into a steady sound when you’re right on top of the mark.

How To Attract Men

Thursday 30 July 2009 @ 7:40 pm

Does a Law on Human Attraction Exist?

“Opposites attract” is a law of attraction, at least where electromagnetism is concerned. But are there laws about attraction between two people? “In a world that is full of strangers” as a line in a famous song of the 1980’s goes, is there a clear set of rules that allows two people to fall for each other?

Is attraction a matter of chemistry?

Maybe. According to scientists, the attraction between animals of the opposite sex is all about chemicals called pheromones. The effect of pheromones in behavior of insects is the most studied to date. It has been observed, at least in some experiments, that pheromones are responsible for communication among same species and colony of ants. The horrible odor released by skunks to ward off enemies is said to be a kind of pheromone. Some species of apes rub pheromone-containing urine on the feet of potential mates to attract them. Some scientists believe that animals (usually the females) such as insects and mammals send out these chemical signals to tell the male of their species that their genes are different from theirs. This gene diversity is important in producing offspring with better chances of survival. The perfume industry has capitalized on pheromones as a means to increase one’s sexual attractiveness to the opposite sex. Animals such as the whale and the musk deer were hunted down for these chemicals.

Lately, scientists are looking into the existence of human pheromones and its role in mate selection. There are many conflicting views in the realm of biology, chemistry, genetics, and psychology. Most scientists would assert that these do not exist, or if they do, do not play a role in sexual attraction between a man and a woman. But new researches such as that conducted by Swiss researchers from the University of Bern led by Klaus Wedekind are slowly making these scientists rethink their stand. Their experiment involved women sniffing the cotton shirts of different men during their ovulation period. It was found out that women prefer the smell of men’s shirts that were genetically different, but also shared similarities with the women’s genes. This, like in the case of insects and other mammals, was to ensure better and healthier characteristics for their future children. But researchers also cautioned that preference for a male odor is affected by the women’s ovulation period, the food that men eat, perfumes and other scented body products, and the use of contraceptive pills.

Does personality figure in sexual attraction?

Yes, but so does your perception of a potential mate’s personality. According to a research conducted by Klohnen, E.C., & S. Luo in 2003 on interpersonal attraction and personality, a person’s sense of self-security and at least the person’s perception of his/her partner were found to be strong determinants of attraction in hypothetical situations. What does this tell us? We prefer a certain personality type, which attracts you to a person. But aside from the actual personality of the person, which can only be verified through close interaction through time, it is your perception of your potential partner that attracts you to him/her, whether the person of your affection truly has that kind of personality or not. This could probably account for a statement commonly heard from men and women on their failed relationships: “I thought he/she was this kind of person.”

So how does attraction figure in relationships?

You have probably heard that attraction is a prelude, or a factor towards a relationship. Most probably, at least in the beginning; but attraction alone cannot make a relationship work. It is that attraction that makes you notice a person from the opposite sex, but once you get to know the person more, attraction is just one consideration. Shared values, dreams, and passions become more significant in long-term relationships.
hot to attract men

So should I stop trying to become attractive?

More than trying to become physically attractive, work on all aspects of your health: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Physical attraction is still a precursor. Remember, biology predisposes us to choose the partner with the healthiest genes. Where your emotions are concerned, just ask this to yourself: would you want to spend time with a person who feels insecure about him/herself? Probably not! There is wisdom in knowing yourself: who you are, your beliefs, values, and dreams. And do not pretend to be someone you are not. Fooling another person by making him/her think that you share the same values and beliefs is only going to cause you both disappointments. When you are healthy in all aspects, attractiveness becomes a consequence and not an end. As mentioned in the Klohnen and Luo’s research, a person’s sense of self-security matters, perhaps even beyond attraction. But remember: do these things for yourself and not for other people. Only then can you truly harness your attractiveness as a person.

The best answer is to have a theme that would lead the flow of the baby shower. There are some ways of selecting and determining on a theme. Do you want it to be color based? In case you already know the baby’s gender, blue or pink is used to universally represent a baby boy or a baby girl. Or baby things such as a baby bottle or a pacifier? How about character-themed baby shower such as the Power Puff Girls, Sesame Street, Two Stupid Dogs or the Looney Tunes? It could also be a time-of-the-day baby shower whereby each guests is tasked to contribute something the baby would use or need during that time of the day.

Expert suggests tremendous baby shower gift ideas such as a layette gift set, baby gift basket, beautiful baby linen, vital baby equipment, a baby gift certificate, or a baby massage set. Each gift idea is unique. For the baby gift basket, some ideas they suggest is to make your own baby gift basket or go for the classical clothing baby gift basket where you can never go wrong. You can also go for fun baby basket, monogrammed baby gift baskets, mother and baby basket, pampering baby gift basket, or a gift basket for twins. They also have different suggestions for baby boys and baby girls. For the complete descriptions for each item, just browse on the internet and read on to get fantastic baby gift ideas.

Once the baby shower is done, take stock of what is already there and not. For those things still lacking from your list, make the necessary arrangements to have it readily available once the baby born.

Just last few tips for a successful baby shower: hold it 4 to 6 weeks prior the due date, set up a theme, write down the guest list, adjust the size and tone of the baby shower, plan the fun games, plan the list of dishes, create baby shower party favors, and last but not the least, set the time and location, if it won’t be held in your house. Remember, baby showers are a great way to welcome the baby that would be arriving soon enough.

Digging Up Your Family Roots: Part 1

Digging up Your Family Roots: Part 1

You’ve begun delving into your family history. You’ve already filled in all the names of your great-grandparents on your family tree. You’ve begun collecting the legal documents that record the milestones of your ancestors’ lives: birth, marriage and death certificates. You’ve even located your family in a few census records. But before you push further back, why not stop and really get to know these people? After all, that’s the purpose of tracing your family roots: knowing more about your ancestors.

If you have names, dates and records through your great-grandparents, you have fifteen lineal ancestors to get to know, both living and dead. To get to know your deceased ancestors better, you have to dig deeper on the paper trail. To better acquaint yourself with your living ancestors, start conducting oral history interviews. Both of these techniques are explained in more depth in this set of articles. Part one will discuss digging deeper on the paper trail, while part two is an introduction to conducting oral history interviews.

Digging up Your Family Roots: Filling in Your Ancestors’ Lives

Documentary support is vital in genealogical research. Even the oral histories of your living relatives will require supporting documents, which they would hopefully be able to provide for you. While these documents include things like birth, marriage and death certificates, it will involve more than just these documents to get to know your deceased ancestors better.

This part of your research might begin with your oldest living relative. He or she might be able to tell you of books or newspaper articles mentioning relatives, even if he or she doesn’t have copies of them. The resources your relatives share with you are also a good starting place, including newspaper clippings, photos, books, Bibles, journals, etc.

Newspapers are an excellent resource. If your relatives have provided you with clippings describing a big event, locate the actual newspapers (usually on microfilm or microfiche by now) and search the following days for follow-up stories. For example, I have a great-great-great uncle who was a police officer. He was shot and killed in the line of duty. Not only do we have newspaper records of the stories about him, but we also have stories about the criminal who shot him: the pursuit, the murder of my relative, the shootout, the dynamiting of his hideout, the holding cell, the trial. This event happened nearly a century ago, yet we have it well documented.

The Internet is a good place to start your search. Search engines may be able to provide reliable and helpful information, or even photographs of ancestors. However, as with all things on the Internet, don’t trust everything you read, and do record the URL or source of all information.

To find newspaper clippings offline, use indexes of newspapers from areas where your relatives lived. An excellent resource might be the obituary of deceased relatives. You’ve already gathered the death date and place, so you know where and when to look to find the obituary in their local newspaper. Many places are served by more than one newspaper, so search all those you can find. The availability of other milestones like birth, engagement and wedding announcements vary, but try to find those as well. If possible, search for your surname in the newspaper index. Be sure to check for “alternative” spellings of your last name as well.

Newspaper resources are only one resource. Military, probate, immigration, court, deed, and church records are each invaluable sources of information. It might be wise to employ a professional genealogy research service to help you with these aspects of your family history. Not only will this save you time, but you can benefit from professional genealogists’ years of experience. Professional genealogy research can be well worth the cost when it means that you get to spend more time reading about your ancestors and getting to know them and less time looking for your resources and getting to know the archives.

The largest repository of genealogical data is the Family History Library (FHL) in Salt Lake City, Utah. Run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this resource can be a one-stop genealogical gold mine. However, traveling to Salt Lake may not be in your budget. Retaining the services of a professional genealogy researcher located near the FHL is another way to take advantage of the millions of records found there.

Real family history research is more than recording names and dates. Digging up your family roots is more than gathering birth, marriage and death certificates. The goal of family history is coming to know your ancestors better. Start getting acquainted by fleshing out your family roots for both your living and dead ancestors.

Children Toys

Friday 19 June 2009 @ 3:22 am

When you enter a toy store, you will be amazed to see so many types of toys are provided.
However, you need to remember, a good toy should encourage the growth of the child. Toys will also be adjusted to the character of children. What appropriate for other children, not necessarily good for your child. Toys should not be too difficult, because it will create frustration. If too easy, will make it bored. When choosing toys for children, you must consider the level of security. Basically the toy should not have a sharp corner, the parts are easily removed, easily broken or not broken out, sized is large enough so that it can not be inserted into the mouth and swallowed.

Here are some games for appropriate age children:

Age 0-1 years
Make sure the toys do not flammable, non toxic, and can be washed. Dolls animals should consist of one part (unbreakable). The face should be painted or sewed together, so it does not have eyes of a button that can be drawn and swallowed. Small and light toys are more easily held and be embraced by children at this age.

Moving toys help infants to develop the ability to put their attention on the object. Balls with sounds or motorize toys provide motor stimulation, visual, and hearing, and to help develop eye movement, crawling, and improve motor ability. But make sure the toys are safe. Toys that jingle will also attract the baby through color, sound, touch, and taste. A band that is designed to stimulate the growth of teeth may be given, which is not easily broken, do not have the loose parts, and can be washed.

Age 12-18 months
At this stage, babies can stand and sit, but not yet able to run by themselves. They are pleased to shift objects, such as toys that can be drawn and cause noises, toys that can be opened-closed, and toys with buttons to press. Babies at this age also like to rearrange boxes, but choose the box covered with a soft material and mild. No need to provide too many boxes, as it will confuse the child.

Baby loves to play with riding related toys such as cars or horses, but this is dangerous for children who cannot walk. Make sure that children can ride on the toys as well as getting off easily. Toys that can be drawn are also good for children who can already walk.

Age 18-24 months
Children at this age have started to speak, and interested in the size and the laying of goods. They are usually interested in rearranging big boxes. Start with one small set and then replace it with a big one. Boxes with tubes or holes to put in things make it even better to play with.

Phone toys make children involved in the activities of adults, and children love the sound. Choose the shapes that resemble cartoon characters to help children remain interested. Broken down toys encourage children to combine the pieces and put them back together. This will help to develop hands and eyes coordination, ability to find partners, and shape identification. However, choose the toys that have not too many pieces. Playing with baby dolls and the trolley will help children develop imagination, role play, and build social capabilities.

Age 2-3 years
Children are more creative. They like the activities of adults, and realistic toys that stimulate the brain. These groups of age also like toys that require manipulation and dexterity.

Toys or dolls that can talk, or musical instruments are also popular. The more features that are displayed, the more interested they are, as long as the toys are easy to play with. Children also can play a simple puzzle. This game can strengthen the coordination of hands, the ability to match and identify shapes, as far as appropriate to the level of their ability. The pieces should not be too small, that cannot be easily inserted into the mouth. Toys that indicate profession, such as medical device, or cooking, are also encouraging his creativity.

Age 3-5 years
Children at this age begin to enjoy the activities of drawing and coloring. Paper and crayon will also encourage the ability to write. Drawing will enhance their imagination and creativity, and also as a medium to express emotions.

Board games such as snakes enhance the ability of visualization and memory, because it requires imagination or mental calculation. Other games that can be introduced are story books, construction toys such as Lego, the puzzle with adjusted difficulty level and a bicycle.

The Importance Of Family Life

Saturday 30 May 2009 @ 1:31 pm

The Importance Of Family Life

A family unit is the unit which builds up a person’s personality. How you behave and what you become in life is very much dependent on your family life. Psychologists believe that a child learns the most from his or her family life. The way your family members deal with you has a life long effect on your personality. Keeping in view all these facts the importance of your family life cannot be denied. Family unit happens to be the most important part of your life till you grow up. The children are usually closer to their parents and their siblings as compared to any other person in the world. As the children grow up they find good friends, spouses, their own kids and colleagues to share their lives with. Although time brings this change but the importance of family remains there. The children who have a sound family background and who belong to a family with strong family ties are almost always happier. Thus one cannot deny the importance of family life.

The life with your family is very important as it plays a major role in your development into the person you become. The goals you set for yourself in your life are very much dependent on the life you have with your family. Those children who belong to the families which have a rich education background tend to learn more. They are interested in learning more and thus it is easy for their parents to get them educated. Similarly, for example, children who belong to a family from which a few of the people are in the field of professional sports, the kids tend to have an interest in sports and they also plan to go to the same field. The sons and daughters of stars from the film industries usually plan to follow the suit of their parents. Thus it is the effect of your family life which guides you to decide what profession you want to do as an adult.

Family life is also important in the sense that it gives you your basic strength as a person. The people who have a smooth and well settled family life are generally less scared of life. Those who are a part of broken family are generally less confident. These people always expect the worst in life. This is a general state of mind which results in building up of a negative personality. Family life is also important to people as it is the part of our life which has more effects on us as compared to any other part of our life. The way a mother treats her kids is actually the deciding factor what those kids will be like as human beings when they grow up.

As important as family life is, it is a big problem in the world of today where the family units are breaking more often and the divorce rates have grown many times. The higher divorce rates result in more broken families that in turn lead to a lot more number of children who suffer through this insecurity in their early ages and as a result they are not that stable. These people tend to have a variety of fears and insecurity. They do not have the courage to face their life. The sole reason behind it is that they have a very tough experience in their family life. As family life plays a very important role in shaping you as a person, lack of security in your family life makes you a bit unstable as a person.

In today’s world a big social problem is that the family unit is not being considered as important by the people as it used to be. In many parts of the world the time period for which people live together as a family is shrinking. The family life adds a sense of responsibility in your personality which lacks in those people who have not have a very nice family life.

How Your Family Will Survive If You Are Not There

How Your Family Will Survive If You Are Not There

All the people in this world belong to their families. The family unit is the most important unit for any person as it builds the personality and makes you the person you get shaped into. Your circumstances as well as your family life are responsible in making you the person you become. Thus family life can be easily considered the most important part of anyone’s life. People behave in certain ways due to the relationships and ties they have within their families. Those children who experience a peaceful family lifestyle are much more confident as compared to those children who experience broken families in their childhood.

As the pace of life is becoming faster with each passing day and the world is changing with every passing minute, the family unit is becoming even more important. We now understand the importance of family unit in a better way because now the percentage of broken families is on a rise. Now we can very clearly see and understand the damages brought to the society by the lack of the existence of family units in our cultures.

Although all cultures promote family life, still as the world is becoming more and more materialistic it is difficult for people to continue spending their lives in the traditional ways. This is creating a lot of problems for everyone. The peace and harmony a nation experiences due to the presence of strong family ties are no longer there. Thus these points have enough weight to prove that the family unit is still very important. Everyone has his or her responsibility towards his or her family. Family unit is important. You need to give it all due importance. You must ensure that as a parent even if you are no longer there and you are not able to support your children and spouse due to your death, there must be arrangements so that your family is in the position to live without you. The survival of your family in your absence must be planned by you.

There are two major aspects which you should consider in this regard. First one of those is how your family will survive financially without you. If you are the only bread winner for your family, how will your kids and your spouse survive with out you? You need to plan for such situations. You must invest in such things which can pay back in time for your kids when they will need money to go to college or to set up some venture. You must consider this factor that your family members will need money to barely survive if something happens to you and you are no more. Or if you are simply not able to earn something to support them. You must plan keeping the worst in your mind.

The other important thing which must be considered is the emotional aspect. If you are no longer there, how will your kids react? If you are a father to them they will need you for more than one reason. Fathers are a protection for their kids from the outside world. If you are a mother your kids need you today and they will need you even after half a century. It cannot be easy for the kids to lose their mother or their father. This will disturb them very much. It can be very difficult for your kids to survive without you. You must be very open to them in this regard. You must prepare them for the worst. Although you do not need to scare them off or make them think that you are planning to die, you must make them realistic enough to think that even if the people whom you love very dearly are no more there, life goes on. The people who die, or leave, are no longer there. But those who are living have to pass their lives on, and that they should do happily. Make your kids understand this fact.

The General Report Of Vegetable Culture – Good Article

Wednesday 27 May 2009 @ 12:01 pm

As a rule, we choose to grow bush beans rather than pole beans. I cannot make up my mind whether or not this is from sheer laziness. In a city backyard the tall varieties might perhaps be a problem since it would be difficult to get poles. But these running beans can be trained along old fences and with little urging will run up the stalks of the tallest sunflowers. So that settles the pole question. There is an ornamental side to the bean question. Suppose you plant these tall beans at the extreme rear end of each vegetable row. Make arches with supple tree limbs, binding them over to form the arch. Train the beans over these. When one stands facing the garden, what a beautiful terminus these bean arches make.

Beans like rich, warm, sandy soil. In order to assist the soil be sure to dig deeply, and work it over thoroughly for bean culture. It never does to plant beans before the world has warmed up from its spring chills. There is another advantage in early digging of soil. It brings to the surface eggs and larvae of insects. The birds eager for food will even follow the plough to pick from the soil these choice morsels. A little lime worked in with the soil is helpful in the cultivation of beans.

Bush beans are planted in drills about eighteen inches apart, while the pole-bean rows should be three feet apart. The drills for the bush limas should be further apart than those for the other dwarf beans say three feet. This amount of space gives opportunity for cultivation with the hoe. If the running beans climb too high just pinch off the growing extreme end, and this will hold back the upward growth.

Among bush beans are the dwarf, snap or string beans, the wax beans, the bush limas, one variety of which is known as brittle beans. Among the pole beans are the pole limas, wax and scarlet runner. The scarlet runner is a beauty for decorative effects. The flowers are scarlet and are fine against an old fence. These are quite lovely in the flower garden. Where one wishes a vine, this is good to plant for one gets both a vegetable, bright flowers and a screen from the one plant. When planting beans put the bean in the soil edgewise with the eye down.

Beets like rich, sandy loam, also. Fresh manure worked into the soil is fatal for beets, as it is for many another crop. But we will suppose that nothing is available but fresh manure. Some gardeners say to work this into the soil with great care and thoroughness. But even so, there is danger of a particle of it getting next to a tender beet root. The following can be done; Dig a trench about a foot deep, spread a thin layer of manure in this, cover it with soil, and plant above this. By the time the main root strikes down to the manure layer, there will be little harm done. Beets should not be transplanted. If the rows are one foot apart there is ample space for cultivation. Whenever the weather is really settled, then these seeds may be planted. Young beet tops make fine greens. Greater care should be taken in handling beets than usually is shown. When beets are to be boiled, if the tip of the root and the tops are cut off, the beet bleeds. This means a loss of good material. Pinching off such parts with the fingers and doing this not too closely to the beet itself is the proper method of handling.

There are big coarse members of the beet and cabbage families called the mangel wurzel and ruta baga. About here these are raised to feed to the cattle. They are a great addition to a cow’s dinner.

The cabbage family is a large one. There is the cabbage proper, then cauliflower, broccoli or a more hardy cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts and kohlrabi, a cabbage-turnip combination.

Cauliflower is a kind of refined, high-toned cabbage relative. It needs a little richer soil than cabbage and cannot stand the frost. A frequent watering with manure water gives it the extra richness and water it really needs. The outer leaves must be bent over, as in the case of the young cabbage, in order to get the white head. The dwarf varieties are rather the best to plant.

Kale is not quite so particular a cousin. It can stand frost. Rich soil is necessary, and early spring planting, because of slow maturing. It may be planted in September for early spring work.

Brussels sprouts are a very popular member of this family. On account of their size many people who do not like to serve poor, common old cabbage will serve these. Brussels sprouts are interesting in their growth. The plant stalk runs skyward. At the top, umbrella like, is a close head of leaves, but this is not what we eat. Shaded by the umbrella and packed all along the stalk are delicious little cabbages or sprouts. Like the rest of the family a rich soil is needed and plenty of water during the growing period. The seed should be planted in May, and the little plants transplanted into rich soil in late July. The rows should be eighteen inches apart, and the plants one foot apart in the rows.

Kohlrabi is a go-between in the families of cabbage and turnip. It is sometimes called the turnip-root cabbage. Just above the ground the stem of this plant swells into a turnip-like vegetable. In the true turnip the swelling is underground, but like the cabbage, kohlrabi forms its edible part above ground. It is easy to grow. Only it should develop rapidly, otherwise the swelling gets woody, and so loses its good quality. Sow out as early as possible; or sow inside in March and transplant to the open. Plant in drills about two feet apart. Set the plants about one foot apart, or thin out to this distance. To plant one hundred feet of drill buy half an ounce of seed. Seed goes a long way, you see. Kohlrabi is served and prepared like turnip. It is a very satisfactory early crop.

Before leaving the cabbage family I should like to say that the cabbage called Savoy is an excellent variety to try. It should always have an early planting under cover, say in February, and then be transplanted into open beds in March or April. If the land is poor where you are to grow cabbage, then by all means choose Savoy.

Carrots are of two general kinds: those with long roots, and those with short roots. If long-rooted varieties are chosen, then the soil must be worked down to a depth of eighteen inches, surely. The shorter ones will do well in eight inches of well-worked sandy soil. Do not put carrot seed into freshly manured land. Another point in carrot culture is one concerning the thinning process. As the little seedlings come up you will doubtless find that they are much, much too close together. Wait a bit, thin a little at a time, so that young, tiny carrots may be used on the home table. These are the points to jot down about the culture of carrots.

The cucumber is the next vegetable in the line. This is a plant from foreign lands. Some think that the cucumber is really a native of India. A light, sandy and rich soil is needed I mean rich in the sense of richness in organic matter. When cucumbers are grown outdoors, as we are likely to grow them, they are planted in hills. Nowadays, they are grown in hothouses; they hang from the roof, and are a wonderful sight. In the greenhouse a hive of bees is kept so that cross-fertilization may go on.

But if you intend to raise cucumbers follow these directions: Sow the seed inside, cover with one inch of rich soil. In a little space of six inches diameter, plant six seeds. Place like a bean seed with the germinating end in the soil. When all danger of frost is over, each set of six little plants, soil and all, should be planted in the open. Later, when danger of insect pests is over, thin out to three plants in a hill. The hills should be about four feet apart on all sides.

Before the time of Christ, lettuce was grown and served. There is a wild lettuce from which the cultivated probably came. There are a number of cultivated vegetables which have wild ancestors, carrots, turnips and lettuce being the most common among them. Lettuce may be tucked into the garden almost anywhere. It is surely one of the most decorative of vegetables. The compact head, the green of the leaves, the beauty of symmetry all these are charming characteristics of lettuces.

As the summer advances and as the early sowings of lettuce get old they tend to go to seed. Don’t let them. Pull them up. None of us are likely to go into the seed-producing side of lettuce. What we are interested in is the raising of tender lettuce all the season. To have such lettuce in mid and late summer is possible only by frequent plantings of seed. If seed is planted every ten days or two weeks all summer, you can have tender lettuce all the season. When lettuce gets old it becomes bitter and tough.

Melons are most interesting to experiment with. We suppose that melons originally came from Asia, and parts of Africa. Melons are a summer fruit. Over in England we find the muskmelons often grown under glass in hothouses. The vines are trained upward rather than allowed to lie prone. As the melons grow large in the hot, dry atmosphere, just the sort which is right for their growth, they become too heavy for the vine to hold up. So they are held by little bags of netting, just like a tennis net in size of mesh. The bags are supported on nails or pegs. It is a very pretty sight I can assure you. Over here usually we raise our melons outdoors. They are planted in hills. Eight seeds are placed two inches apart and an inch deep. The hills should have a four foot sweep on all sides; the watermelon hills ought to have an allowance of eight to ten feet. Make the soil for these hills very rich. As the little plants get sizeable say about four inches in height reduce the number of plants to two in a hill. Always in such work choose the very sturdiest plants to keep. Cut the others down close to or a little below the surface of the ground. Pulling up plants is a shocking way to get rid of them. I say shocking because the pull is likely to disturb the roots of the two remaining plants. When the melon plant has reached a length of a foot, pinch off the end of it. This pinch means this to the plant: just stop growing long, take time now to grow branches. Sand or lime sprinkled about the hills tends to keep bugs away.

The word pumpkin stands for good, old-fashioned pies, for Thanksgiving, for grandmother’s house. It really brings more to mind than the word squash. I suppose the squash is a bit more useful, when we think of the fine Hubbard, and the nice little crooked-necked summer squashes; but after all, I like to have more pumpkins. And as for Jack-o’-lanterns why they positively demand pumpkins. In planting these, the same general directions hold good which were given for melons. And use these same for squash-planting, too. But do not plant the two cousins together, for they have a tendency to run together. Plant the pumpkins in between the hills of corn and let the squashes go in some other part of the garden. Booster For Your Baby

Thirteen of the 41 belt-positioning booster seats the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety evaluated with the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute last October did such a poor job of improving the fit of lap and shoulder belts for children that the Institute doesn’t recommend them at all.

“We evaluated the safety belt fit boosters provide, not crash protection,” says Institute president Adrian Lund. “This is because unlike child restraints, boosters don’t restrain children in crashes. They simply position children so lap and shoulder belts are in the right place to restrain them.” More importance was assigned to lap belt fit. All of the best-bet boosters locate this belt on children’s upper thighs.

Restraint seat should not go straight to a regular seat and seatbelt. A booster seat that meets federal safety standards is necessary to help the child make the transition from a child’s car seat to the regular car seat.

An adult-sized seat belt alone is 60 percent less effective than a booster seat.

Does Your Child Need a Booster Seat?

How do you know if your child needs to be in a booster seat? Children who have outgrown a child safety seat should ride in a booster seat until they are at least eight years old, or four feet, nine inches tall. Are Booster Seats Really Safe?

Children should stay in their car safety seat as long as possible before moving to a booster seat. High-back and backless booster seats are available, and should be used until your child can correctly fit in lap and shoulder seat belts. Never use a booster seat with just a lap belt, as serious injury may result.

Well a lot of people may not be aware of booster seats. Nope, you can’t find booster seats in there. Booster seats are a specialized kind of seat for children and designed to protect them from injury in a car accident. Children 12 and under should sit in booster seats because they are not yet big enough for the adult seats.

Booster seats help protect the child’s upper body with either the shoulder belt or with the shield. Booster seats are comfortable for children because it allows for their legs to bend normally. Booster seats can also reduce slouching, which is a cause of poor lap belt fit.

There are several kinds of booster seats. There are belt-positioning boosters, which are booster seats without shields. This booster seat should only be used with the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belt. Some of these booster seats have a high back to give head support taller children.

There are also booster seats with removable shields for children weighing below 40 pounds. i hope this is useful for you… thanks!!
